What a challenge!!  Lone Pumpkin is day 2 painting of Leslie Saeta's 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. It is a 6 x 6 x 1.5 inch wrapped canvas.  It is for sale and you can find it on my website under original paintings.

I am also using these 30 days to try new techniques and for learning tool!!  In my painting group, Artist, Roisin O'Ferrell  challenged the members to paint a still life and to count our paint strokes.   This is my real challenge!!

I first bulit myself a shadow box and gathered my subject to paint. Just beginning in September  I thought  a small pumpkin would be perfect!  I painted a base coat with acrylic Naples yellow and then used a thin coat of burnt sienna to sketch my subject.  The challenge here is... I never paint with real subjects so it was really hard to paint only what I saw and not what I wanted to see!

I  mixed my paints and then some values.  I have been reading  how to mix colors so this was a great way to get a little practice.  I normally just mix a little as I go.  I am studing color so I can learn and understand how to paint in vibrant colors!  With practice I hope I can teach this old dog new tricks!!  Thanks for following me on this journey!!  Have a great day and see you tomorrow!!
