2014 Buttercup Betty
Betty is an oil painting on stretched 6 X 6 cotton
Buttercup Betty is of the Sicilian Buttercup hen. This breed originated on the Island of Sicily and was imported to America in 1835 but was not an American Standard until around 1918. The unique cup shaped comb and the beautiful golden color is where its name was derived. The barnyard breed is not winter hardy and do not go broody. Best kept as free range because they do not like to be confined. The productive chickens lay colored to tinted white eggs and are sure to be a great addition to the small farm or backyard!
